Lucifer has risen. All the seals are broken and the horsemen are set free. Death is a prisoner to Lucifer. The demons want Sam, and the angels want Dean. Dean and Sam being the vessels for Lucifer and Michael, are wanting to fight for their own free will.
Since Sam and Dean found out that they were the vessels of Michael and Lucifer, they decided to use their own judgement to change their destiny’s. They formed a plan called “Team Free Will”. They decided that nothing can determine their destiny’s except themselves.
Recently Dean and Sam found out that “The Trickster”, is actually an archangel who lives on Earth for his own purposes, and to get away from his brothers bickering. Sam was the one who decided to try and ‘recruit’ Gabriel to their side. Meanwhile, Ruby has come back from the dead in Human form. Sam also met Ariel, a hunter who he fell for almost instantly, though he knows nothing can come of the relationship.
They tried using the colt to stop Lucifer but it didn’t work, and Jo and Ellen Harville were killed in the process. Meanwhile, Sam’s been forming a plan of his own without telling anyone until he KNOWS it will work. Will all be lost? Or will Sam and Dean come up with the ultimate plan to stop Lucifer?
